The More-Than-One Robotics Laboratory

The More-Than-One Robotics Laboratory (MoreLab) was established in 2008 at Aalborg University, Denmark. Since then, the lab has grown and evolved, relocating to Universiti Brunei Darussalam and currently residing at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada (since 2016).

What Does "More-Than-One" Mean?

The name "More-Than-One" reflects our core research philosophy: we study systems where multiple agents—whether robots, sensors, or humans—work together to achieve goals that no single agent could accomplish alone.

Research Focus Areas

Multi-Robot Systems

Swarms and teams of robots coordinating to complete complex tasks through distributed intelligence.

Human-Robot Interaction

Robots working alongside humans in shared workspaces with social awareness and safety.

Modular Robotics

Systems composed of multiple reconfigurable units that can adapt to different tasks.

"To develop intelligent systems that can work together to achieve common goals."

We exploit communication and interaction of human and robotic agents to develop systems theory and algorithms for complex intelligent systems that can be evaluated through mathematical modelling, simulation, and real-world experiments.
